Airtime: the blog

mmhmm is now Airtime!

Airtime Team

Apr 24, 2025

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Things really do look a little different around here today. So let’s cut to the chase: mmhmm is now Airtime—the essential toolkit for working on video.

Why? Because work keeps evolving, but working over video is here to stay, even for folks who are back in the office. Video powers global teams, sales pitches and demos, online education and training, the creator economy, and more. That’s a lot of different needs, and the best way to address them all isn’t with one giant app. That’s like bringing a Swiss Army knife to a construction site. Instead, we’re building a kit of specialized tools so you can focus on the thing you need right now, without hunting for features or controls.

Here’s what this change means for you, whether you’ve been using mmhmm for years or visiting us for the first time.

Updating the app

The Airtime app icon, as seen in a Mac's dock.

If you already have mmhmm installed on your desktop, you’ll get a prompt to update the app the next time you launch it. The app name and icon will change, and you’ll get access to two tools: Airtime Camera and Airtime Creator. You may need to restart your computer to complete the update.

If you use mmhmm in a web browser, you’ll see the change instantly, no action required.

The name of the virtual camera has also changed. When you connect to a call on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or elsewhere, look for “Airtime” as the camera name.

Meet Airtime’s tools

This isn’t just a name change or a rebrand. It’s a whole new approach to getting things done on video. Each tool under the Airtime banner is designed to help you achieve a specific goal over video.

Airtime Camera is a new tool for looking great in a meeting. It lets you create stunning custom looks where you control your environment, appearance, and branding. It’s a great way to stand out and reinforce your personal or company brand on Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, and more.

Choose Airtime Camera to:

  • Create the perfect vibe in calls with clients, prospects, or interviews
  • Raise your profile so you don’t get lost in a sea of heads
  • React in the moment with your favorite visuals or GIFs
  • Unite your team with a custom look that reinforces your brand

Airtime Creator is the successor to mmhmm, and includes everything that was in the previous version. Airtime Creator is designed for engaging presentations and shareable recordings where you put yourself inside your slides, so viewers can focus on what you’re saying. We think it’s the best way to convey ideas on video—without limitations, clutter, or a steep learning curve.

Choose Airtime Creator to:

  • Build pitch-perfect presentations where the focus is on you
  • Record, edit, and share polished videos with ease
  • Communicate clearly with clean, focused slides
  • Invite colleagues to join you for a team presentation

Subscriptions and pricing

If you’re already an mmhmm subscriber, nothing changes. You’ll have unlimited access to all of Airtime’s tools at the same price of an mmhmm subscription: $10 per month when charged annually, or $12 for a month-to-month subscription.

If you’re new here, signing up for Airtime enrolls you in a 14-day free trial with full access, so you can try out all the features before deciding if Airtime’s right for you. There’s no credit card required at signup.

After the trial period, you can subscribe to keep the full Airtime toolkit, or buy Airtime Camera as a standalone app for a one-time charge. But as a special introductory offer, we’ve made Airtime Camera completely free to use until August 1, 2025. See our Pricing page for more details.

No more typos

Okay, we can’t promise that. There’s no Airtime tool for spelling. But at least now when you tell your friends (or your boss) how much you love your favorite video app, you won’t have to spell it out letter by letter, or try to explain why its name is a sound you can make while eating.

Yeah, we’ll miss mmhmm. But we’re thrilled about how far we’ve come, and what’s coming next. Stay tuned!
